Our purpose
In short, the Armed Forces & Veterans Breakfast Clubs put one veteran in front of another.
It may seem too simple to be effective, but for a great many, it is life changing.
The phrase “returning to civilian life” is misleading. For the vast majority it’s not a return; it’s their first real experience of civilian life as an adult, whether they leave the military in their twenties, thirties, or after a full service career, many have known little beyond the structure of the military.
That adjustment can often be overwhelming.
Our mission is to end the social isolation that follows, which is the predominant factor at the heart of so many mental health challenges and even suicides among Armed Forces veterans.
What began in 2007 with a few veterans in a Hull garage has grown into a global support network, with over 150,000 members in more than 15 countries. New clubs form every week, each rooted in the same mission: to fight isolation, strengthen mental well-being, and help veterans feel part of something again.
AFVBC is not a charity or business. We don’t raise money or promote organisations. We simply bring veterans together—because peer support works. The friendships made around our breakfast tables often extend far beyond the club itself, creating a support network that’s both powerful and personal.
Whether you served in wartime or peacetime, left decades ago or recently transitioned, you are welcome here.
AFVBC exists so no veteran ever feels alone again.
We look forward to welcoming you to your local Breakfast Club.
